Inspired by Robert Adams and Eugene Atget
What I like about this image of Ballinderry House is the composure; I really liked how the foreground railings were blurred whilst the building in the background was in clear focus.
I felt that this photo was similar to ones by Eugene Atget. Therefore, to experiment in photoshop I decided that I would adjust the tones to create a vintage warm feel. However, I decided after this that although I had been inspired by Atget’s image, I felt that my image did not mirror his work.
Having looked at my image a second time; I decided to attempt another edit. This time I chose to base my ideas on the work of Robert Adams. I liked Adams’ work as the image I focussed on was a black and white image that , I felt, was very strategically composed. I edited my image using photoshop; first converting to monochromatic tones and then adjusting the brightness and the contrast to ensure that the image was matte to achieve the vintage look as in Adams’ work.
