Photographers that Inspired Plante
Irving Penn
" Not only one of my favorite portrait photographers, but he was a true artist in every genre of photography - portraiture, still life, fashion, beauty, black and white and colour...astounding" |
Erwin Blumenfeld
"Such a feel for the female form, so innovative in his approach. I hope one day to be able to take an image like his, in emotion, vision and beauty" |
Elliott Erwitt
"Not only is he one of the great living photographers - his career has spanned seven decades! - he is also a dear friend." |
Style of WorkPlante's work is predominantly monochromatic, in an interview with the author of an online blog, Andrew S. Gibson, Plante explained that as we see the world in colour, its what we are used to and so by stripping the element from a photograph encourages us to look closer at what we may sometimes take for granted.
By doing this we see the essence, stripped bare and see the form, texture, lighting and shadow creating the image - this creates a more emotional and dramatic impact. |
